Where Is My Refund?

For tax returns filed electronically, the IRS typically direct deposits refunds into your bank account on the second Friday after they receive your return. If you did not elect direct deposit, checks are typically received on the third friday.

It is not uncommon for the IRS to delay refunds. For some returns with more complex or unusual issues, the IRS may delay issuing a refund for up to three or four weeks to be sure it is not a fraudulent claim. Recently, the IRS has stated that intends to do this with the Home Buyer Credit for 2009.
